My passion and my yoga teaching is all about helping women move from feeling uncomfortable in their own skin to feeling more at home in and trusting of their bodies. We can become disconnected from our physical bodies for many different reasons, one of which is domestic violence.
It can be extremely difficult to feel safe in your own body after experiencing it as an unsafe place. It can also be difficult to feel safe anywhere, especially in a tech-filled world where information is so easily shared. Today I've partnered with Techwarn.com to share tools you can use to move towards feeling safe in your body and safe in the land of technology.
If you caught my vlog last week you know we chatted about how to feel more comfortable in your own skin. You can find the find that post and a 35-minute yoga practice to help you experience your body from the inside out in the resources below.
Becoming more aware of the thoughts you have about your body is an important aspect to feeling better in it. In today's video I'll guide you through 4 tools you can use to start to observe your thoughts. Enjoy!
Is that actually possible? Yep, it sure it.
In this video I'm sharing some tools to help you do just that. This has made a HUGE impact on my life and the way I have felt about my body over the years. I hope it does the same for you.
Let's do this, together.
We've all been beginners at some point. Whether it's riding your bike, going to Kindergarten or college, starting a new job or relationship, we get a LOT of opportunities to begin new things in our lives. It's always nicer when you've got some support and a soft landing ;) If you've never tried yoga, or you've been away from it for a while, private yoga sessions are a fantastic way to ease into your practice.
Listening to your body. It's one of the cues or suggestions I often include in my yoga classes. It's important to understand your limits to prevent injury and to challenge yourself when you've got a little more to give, not mention rest when you're tired, eat when you're hungry, and so much more. It's also one of those things it's really easy to say, but not always easy to do.
Power. Vinyasa. Acro. Kundalini. Ashtanga. Hatha. Hot. Jivamukti. Anusara. Bikram. Iyengar. Yoga Sculpt. You can find yoga classes that combine yoga with weights, yoga + cycling, and yoga + pilates. Heck, you can even find classes that combine yoga and a pint of beer!
There are a LOT of kinds of yoga, people!
I have a love/hate relationship with the phrase "Just relax". Arguably, it should be that easy. But if it were that easy we'd never be stressed right? The thing is, even if our heart is in on the whole relaxation thing, our brain often doesn't know how to come along for the ride.
Do you like writing lists?
I'm list kind of gal. If I don't write it down it's like it doesn't exist. It goes into the same abyss that single socks falls into, or the black hole is that is the "lost and found" at my girls' school. Gone forever, never to be seen again. My girls are list writers too. They write ghost finding lists, friend lists, and Christmas lists each year.
I'm not really a pie person. I'll skip the meringues, the fruit pies, the cream pies. Just not my thing...unless it's Key Lime pie. Then I'm all in.
But, pie is great visual for how many of us view and approach life.
I'm Tonia, a Midwesterner transplanted to Colorado. I'm a mom of two lovely littles, a yoga instructor, DIY-er, teacher, stay at home mom, and a doTERRA Wellness Advocate. I blog about a little bit of all of these and everything in between!
Are you looking for natural health options, but don't know where to start? Book a 1-on-1 appointment with me! We'll spend about 30 minutes getting to know your health goals and concerns, learn a bit about doTERRA, and go over the most commonly used oils that meet your needs. You don't have to buy anything, but if you see something you like, of course I can help you!
